Benton House To Be Featured On SciFi Channel TV Show Ghost Hunters!

Many a haunted tale has been told (and feared) about the likes of Benton House and her many ghosts.  In fact, the tales have traveled so far and wide that the TAPS team of the famed television show GHOST HUNTERS on the SciFi Channel will be conducting a thorough paranormal investigation of both of our historic buildings this July!   Visit our site soon for episode air times and segment information!

This October our legendary Haunted House returns!   Come wander our ghostly halls and experience the unexplainable for yourself… if you dare!!!

Organic Community Food Garden to launch at Benton House this month

Benton House has partnered with the national organization Urban Farming to launch an organic community food garden behind our main building at 3052 S. Gratten Ave. in Chicago.  We are the first of Urban Farming’s Chicago sites to plant vertical food gardens!  Our youth and senior programs, as well as the community at large, will greatly benefit from this important addition to the community.   Our garden is your garden!  Come see our edible walls and our artfully painted container gardens, and by all means, join in on the care of the garden!  Volunteers are needed!  For more information on how to get involved, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Sophia Kortchmar, at  (773) 927-6420.

New Hope Garden Stage Will be Home to Neighborhood Concerts and Events

With the help of the many young and able hands assisting Benton House through the Youth Ready Chicago program this summer, we will be building an outdoor stage in our Hope Garden.  The Hope Garden is our rose and floral garden located just south of our gym building at 3034 S. Gratten Ave. in Bridgeport.  This beautiful garden stage will be home to free neighborhood concerts, various Benton House events, and like our other spaces, will be available for rental as well.  For rental inquiries, contact Mark Lennon at mark@bentohouse.org.  The Hope Garden Stage will be presented to the community for the first time this August 8th at the Sound Alternative Independent Music Festival!  Stay tuned for the lineup and more information.
